In 2015, Manuel Primicias III turned a simple dream into a reality—a dream to give kids in his community the chance to play the game he loved.
He remembered how it felt as a child: playing with worn-out balls, no proper equipment, no coach, and no support. He didn’t want today’s kids to grow up with the same struggles. From that vision, Ciudad De Urdaneta Futbol United was born.
“We were once kids, and we know how hard it was to play with an overused ball, no equipment, no coach, and no support at all.”
The Story Behind the Name
The club’s name comes from their beloved hometown, Urdaneta City. The founders gave it a unique twist by translating it into Spanish Ciudad de Urdaneta, and adding Futbol United to represent both the sport and the unity within the team.
Growing the Game in the Early Years
In a city where many didn’t even know what football was, building the club was a challenge. The founders worked tirelessly to introduce the sport, inviting anyone to give it a try. Slowly, kids and teens began joining, sharing laughter, struggles, and the joy of playing together—both on and off the pitch.
Coaching and Programs
The club welcomes players as young as 7, up to 17 and beyond, training six days a week.
- Monday to Friday: Full training sessions
- Saturday: Training or friendly matches
Their coaching philosophy is simple: “Consistency is the key to betterment.”
The late Manuel Primicias III, a License C holder, led the team’s early coaching before passing the torch to Arjay G. Peralta, who is now pursuing his coaching license.
To ensure football is for everyone, the club runs specialized programs:
- Girls’ / Women’s Football
- Goalkeeper Training
- Futsal
- School-Based Outreach
- Special Needs Inclusion
Competing and Making Their Mark
The club has competed in notable local and regional tournaments, including:
- Pangasinan Weekend Football League
- Bolinao Cup
- Milo Football Cup
- Panagbenga Cup
- Luenthai Cup
Their proudest moment came when they placed 2nd Runner Up in the Pangasinan Weekend Football League, going up against the defending SCUAA (Pangasinan State University) champions, who later finished 3rd in the National SCUAA.
Notable Alumni:
- Jel Jel Sison – San Beda University / Mendiola FC
- Ulysis Javonillo Jr. – Arellano University
- Lucky Jerryl Buscaino – University of Perpetual Help System Laguna
Some players have also been invited to join other clubs, such as Pampanga Futboleros, to compete in tournaments like Pinas Cup.
No Man Left Behind
One of their most defining values was born during their high school days. With no budget or school support, they still made sure everyone could join every tournament.
They raised funds by:
- Knocking on doors for donations
- Buying and selling shoes and shirts
- Learning shoe repair to earn extra
“We made everything so that no man is left behind.” – Pres. Lucky
This wasn’t just about football—it was about brotherhood, perseverance, and love for the game.
Football as Family and Community
Today, the club continues to shape the youth of Urdaneta. Players are more focused, disciplined, and see football as a pathway to growth.
Football here is for:
- Boys and girls
- Beginners and advanced players
- Even those with special needs
The club also holds outreach programs and free clinics, sharing the sport with communities beyond its own.
Looking Ahead
3-Year Vision:
- Expand grassroots football programs
- Compete in higher-level leagues as a full club
Challenges:
- Lack of financial support
- Limited training venues
- Low recognition in the local sports community
The club hopes to gain sponsorships to cover equipment, tournament fees, and better training facilities.
More Than Just a Club
Their motto says it all:
“We move as one.”
And their message to every young footballer:
“Vision is everything. See it, work for it, and expect greatness.”
Ciudad De Urdaneta Futbol United is more than a team; it’s a family, a home for dreamers, and proof that passion and perseverance can turn even the smallest grassroots group into something extraordinary.
