The Orani Strikers FC story of discipline, community, and grassroots football is built on belief

In Orani, Bataan, football is not announced by applause or trophies. It arrives quietly—at first light—when the field is still wrapped in mist, and the only sounds are boots meeting grass and children calling for the ball. Young players come carrying more than gear: they carry schoolwork, responsibility, and hope. Along the touchline, parents stand still, sensing that these early hours are shaping something far bigger than a match.

This is where Orani Strikers Football Club Inc. (OSFC) was forged. Not from advantage or excess, but from resolve. A club built on effort, sustained by belief, and driven by a deep commitment to give the town’s youth a place to grow through the game.

Founded in 2012, OSFC began with a bold conviction—that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. From that truth, a grassroots movement took root. Today, the Orani Strikers stand among Bataan’s most enduring football institutions, developing not only skilled athletes, but disciplined leaders and grounded young Filipinos—one training session, one lesson, one purposeful kick at a time.

A Club Born From Refusal to Wait

The founders of OSFC—Michael C. Roque, together with Romienel Malana, Dan Cedric Carolino, Jerome John Aquino, Gerald Abella, and Carla Punzalan—did not wait for perfect conditions. They saw raw talent in Orani’s youth, but also saw what was missing: structure, guidance, and a place to belong.

So they built one.

“We didn’t start this club because everything was ready,” shares Romienel B. Malana, now Chairman and Head Coach of OSFC.
“We started because the kids were ready—and they deserved a chance.”

That decision changed lives.

From makeshift training grounds and shared equipment, OSFC became a safe space where football was not just played, but taught with meaning. Here, discipline mattered. Respect mattered. Character mattered.

From day one, the Strikers were never just training players.
They were forming people.

Why “Orani Strikers” Means More Than a Name

Every club name tells a story.
Orani anchors the team to its roots — a town known for resilience, humility, and unity.
Strikers reflect a mindset: forward-looking, fearless, always willing to take responsibility when it matters most.

A striker does not hide.
A striker steps up.

That is the identity OSFC gives its players—on the pitch and in life.

To strike is to believe.
To strike is to try.
To strike is to keep going, even after missing.

From Open Fields to Open Futures

Like most grassroots stories worth telling, OSFC’s early days were humble. Training sessions happened wherever space allowed. Equipment was scarce, but energy was not. Coaches volunteered. Parents helped. Players showed up—early, hungry, hopeful.

Word spread.

Soon, Orani Strikers were joining local matches, then tournaments. Losses became lessons. Wins became fuel. Slowly, the badge began to mean something across Bataan.

What grew was not just a football program, but a football family.

Today, OSFC caters to players across multiple age groups and categories:

  • Ages 11–13
  • Ages 14–16
  • Ages 17 and above
  • Men’s and Women’s Open divisions

From beginners learning their first touch to competitive athletes chasing higher dreams, every player walks a clear pathway—one built on patience, progression, and belief.

Training That Respects Both Dreams and Duties

OSFC understands something crucial: young players are students first, athletes second—and dreamers always.

With three structured training days per week, sessions are designed to be demanding yet balanced:

    • Weekends: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    • Special weekday sessions: for selected teams preparing for competitions

Each session blends:

    • technical mastery
    • tactical understanding
    • physical development
    • and team cohesion

But just as important is adaptability—adjusting schedules for school, weather, and life itself. Because development is not about pushing harder—it’s about growing smarter.

Character Before Credentials

At OSFC, football ability opens doors—but character keeps them open.

The club’s philosophy is simple and uncompromising:

A good player with bad character will not last.
A good person will always improve.

Players are taught:

    • respect for teammates, opponents, and officials
    • accountability for their actions
    • confidence without arrogance
    • discipline that extends beyond the pitch

Understanding space, movement, and tactics matters—but understanding responsibility matters more.

Leadership That Leads by Example

At the heart of OSFC’s football philosophy is Coach Romienel B. Malana, whose leadership is grounded in both experience and education:

    • PFF Football Grassroots Coaching Course
    • PFF Level 1 Futsal Coaching Certification

More than credentials, Coach Malana brings presence — on the field, on the sidelines, and in the lives of his players. He coaches with clarity, challenges with care, and leads with consistency.

Here, no training session is wasted.
Every drill has a reason.
Every player has value.

Beyond Football: Programs That Expand Possibility

OSFC believes development must be inclusive and complete. That’s why the club offers specialized programs designed to meet different needs:

    • Girls’ and Women’s Football – building confidence, opportunity, and equality
    • Goalkeeper Training – a craft of courage and concentration
    • Futsal Programs – sharpening technique, speed, and creativity
    • School-Based Outreach – taking football to communities that need it most

Football is the tool—but empowerment is the goal.

Competing With Pride, Learning With Every Match

The Strikers have represented Orani across numerous competitions, including:

    • Oxi Cup
    • Tobacco Free Generation Cup
    • Malaya Futsal
    • Copa De Bataan
    • Nuvali Cup
    • Pilipinas Cup
    • Mayor’s Cup
    • Ramon Manuel Cup
    • Governors Cup

and many more.

Each tournament is not just a contest—it is a classroom.
A test of courage.
A lesson in humility.
A moment to wear the Orani badge with honor.

Measuring Success Beyond Medals

Yes, OSFC has earned podium finishes and individual awards.
Yes, players have represented Bataan in Palarong Pambansa, competed in Batang Pinoy, and moved on to universities like San Beda and UST.

But the club’s proudest achievements cannot be framed.

They are seen in:

    • shy kids who found confidence
    • students who learned discipline
    • players who became leaders
    • families brought closer together

That is success.

Challenges That Strengthen the Strikers

Facilities remain limited. Funding is always a challenge. Balancing school and sport are never easy.

But Orani Strikers Football Club does not complain.
They adjust.
They endure.
They continue.

Because the dream is bigger than the obstacle.

Looking Ahead: A Bigger Field of Dreams

In the next three years, Orani Strikers Football Club aims to:

    • expand its reach across Orani and nearby towns
    • enhance coaching and fitness programs
    • increase exposure in provincial and national competitions
    • strengthen pathways to universities, PFF programs, and beyond

The goal is clear: to become one of Bataan’s strongest football and futsal development hubs — without losing its heart.

The Spirit That Defines the Strikers

There was a time when resources ran thin — but unity ran deep.
Players shared gear. Parents shared responsibilities. Volunteers stepped up.

That moment defined Orani Strikers Football Club.

Not money.
Not medals.
But commitment.

More Than a Club — A Home

At Orani Strikers FC, players laugh, struggle, compete, and grow together. They learn to win with grace and lose with dignity. They learn that effort matters—and that no one walks alone.

This is a culture built on respect, joy, and belonging.
