In the town of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, a rainbow once stretched across a field—not of colors in the sky, but of young men chasing a ball barefoot, using backpacks as goalposts, and laughter as their anthem. That rainbow was Bahaghari FC, born in 2018, not from a single founder, but from friendship, brotherhood, and an undying love for football.
Simoun Carlo Oregas, Alex Diata, Kim John Napolitano, Jairus Lumague, Abram Morales, Arc Bernard Paigao, Mc Lehnard Garay, Harrison Garcia, Joshua Cahilig, Michael Valones, and Zim Paul Valones—these were not just teammates, but dreamers who believed that the game could build something greater than themselves.
From Dream to Discipline
For years, the club played with little more than grit. No licensed coach, no proper equipment, and sometimes not even a goalpost. But what they had was heart—and heart carried them into tournaments, into rivalries, and into the lives of the next generation of players.
By 2022, Bahaghari FC had transformed into something more than a weekend hobby. Under the leadership of Club President Joshua M. Cahilig, the group of friends transformed into a formal club with a mission: to nurture the youth of Pinamalayan through football and to build a community united by teamwork, discipline, and hope.
Why “Bahaghari”?
Their name comes from the Bahaghari Festival, Pinamalayan’s annual celebration of the rainbow. A rainbow is born only after the storm, and it carries with it beauty, unity, and the promise of brighter days. Bahaghari FC embodies that same spirit— resilience, togetherness, and the courage to keep shining no matter the obstacles.
Every time they step onto the pitch, they wear their rainbow proudly, reminding their community that football is not just a sport, but a symbol of hope.
Building Champions Under the Rainbow
Bahaghari FC is more than a team— it’s a school of life. Training four days a week, the club molds players not only to pass, dribble, and score, but to respect, communicate, and lead.
Head coaches— Michael J. Valones (Girls/Women’s Team), Zim Paul J. Valones (Men’s/Senior Team), and Mc Lehnard Garay (U-16 and U-19 Teams)— guide the players with a philosophy rooted in teamwork and inclusivity.
Programs include Girls’ Football, Futsal, and grassroots youth training, ensuring that anyone— boy or girl, rich or poor—can find their place under the rainbow. All you need are your boots, your passion, and the willingness to learn.
Achievements and Aspirations
Though resources are limited, Bahaghari FC has already made its mark. From local competitions in Oriental Mindoro to placing 3rd in a major tournament in the National Capital Region, the rainbow shines brighter with every trophy and every lesson learned on the field.
But their victories are not measured in medals alone. The club has given Pinamalayan’s youth a safe space to grow, build confidence, and dream. For many, the football pitch has become a second home, a place where friendships are forged and futures are imagined.
The Next Arc of Light
In the coming years, Bahaghari FC envisions:
-
- Expanding grassroots football across Pinamalayan.
- Competing more consistently in national tournaments.
- Building stronger community and sponsorship support.
Challenges remain— funding, coaching resources, and exposure—but like the rainbow they are named after, Bahaghari FC believes that storms are only temporary, and brighter days always follow.
A Story That Shines
Club President Joshua M. Cahilig still remembers those afternoons ten years ago: the grass beneath them, the laughter after hours of play, the feeling of football as freedom. Today, he looks at the younger generation playing for Bahaghari FC and sees those same sparks of joy, determination, and hope.
What was once a circle of friends has become a family, a movement, and a legacy in the making.
Their motto says it all: “Arc of Light Our Guide.”
It is not just a phrase but a promise— that as long as there is football, there will always be light to follow.
A Message to Young Footballers
“Just keep playing until that dream turns into reality.”
This is Bahaghari FC’s message to every child with a ball at their feet and a dream in their heart. Because under the rainbow, every kick, every goal, and every moment on the pitch brings you closer to the future you imagine.
